Understanding EVO ICL

The EVO ICL, or implantable collamer lens, can correct your vision, offering lifelong healthy sight. The refractive lens augments your natural lens, correcting nearsightedness and astigmatism.

Variations of the ICL have been available for over 20 years. During that time, over 1 million ICLs such as Visian ICL and EVO ICL have been implanted worldwide to fix the functional errors that normally worsen vision.

EVO ICL

Patients Choose EVO ICL Over Other Refractive Procedures

EVO ICL have their own striking advantages, making them the first choice for many patients at our Dallas-area offices and nationwide. That's because:

The Results Are Virtually Instantaneous

One of the most stressful parts of LASIK and PRK is leaving the procedure with poor vision. Instead of living with blurry sight and uncertainty until the area heals, choose EVO ICL for results that are often close to instant.

They're FDA-Approved

Just like LASIK and PRK, EVO ICL lenses have earned FDA approval. That means the efficacy of this treatment has held up after rigorous clinical trials and testing, giving you a treatment you can trust.

They Provide UV Protection

EVO ICL come with built-in UV protection — a perk PRK and LASIK cannot offer. This UV protection can guard against sun damage, protecting your eyes while providing vision correction.

Keep Your Peace of Mind

While EVO ICL is designed to permanently correct your vision, the lens can be removed by a doctor in the event of a major prescription change or to keep pace with advancing technology and your future vision needs. LASIK and PRK, on the other hand, are not reversible.

Materials Matter:  EVO ICL Uses Collamer

Patients with EVO ICL lenses have their refractive errors corrected by a collamer implantable lens.

Collamer includes collagen (a structural protein), which makes the material biocompatible, meaning it won’t cause a reaction with your eye.

The collamer ICL has been proven safe and effective in FDA trials. In addition, the collamer lens is pliable and soft, allowing a comfortable experience.

Paying For EVO ICL

/

Since EVO ICL is considered elective, insurance may not cover them. We accept Wells Fargo financing to make life-changing treatment possible. You can also pay with a Flex Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA).

The EVO ICL In Action

Eye not dilated
Before the EVO ICL Refractive errors are caused by issues with your cornea, lens, or eye shape. These disruptions change where light rays are directed relative to your retina. This worsens your vision quality.
ICL in dilated eye
After the EVO ICL As you can see here, the ICL augments your original lens so light can reflect onto the retina as it was naturally designed to do. You'll notice vision correction working soon after the procedure.

EVO ICL Placement Is Simple But the Results Are Lifelong

It takes about 10-15 minutes per eye for our ophthalmologists to place an EVO ICL.
It takes about 10-15 minutes per eye for our ophthalmologists to place an EVO ICL.

Eye Drops

First, our ophthalmologists will make sure that you're entirely comfortable with numbing eye drops.

Dilation

Your eye drops will also dilate your pupils, which will aid in easier ICL placement.

Preparation

You will be awake but feel no pain at all as our cornea specialists create a space for the ICL between your cornea and the existing natural lens.

Placement

The space will be smaller than the lens itself, which will be folded before we put it inside.

Centering

We'll finish the procedure by ensuring your ICL is correctly centered for optimal vision quality.

Recovery

A trusted friend or family member will drive you home. You'll need about two days away from work or activities to recover.

Follow-Up

Our doctors will conduct a follow-up exam the day after your EVO ICL procedure to monitor your recovery.

A Closer Look At ICL Placement

Once your quick and safe EVO ICL procedure is complete, the new ICL will change how light reaches your retina. Unlike glasses or contact lenses, with a discrete ICL, no one will be able to see that you have a vision aid.
